Task 1- Historical and comparative study of advertising

"All's well that ends well" Persil TV advert 1962 uses Pathos or emotional appeal. In the middle of the 20th century, the majority of mothers were maids and housekeeper. This ad targets especially mothers who clean and tend to the house, but they try to make mums relate to their everyday duties as shown in the advert, comforting and showing love to their children.Furthermore I feel as if the connotation is that a mother would do her duty better with Persil. The shots of the historical ad aren't as diverse as the shots of the contemporary one.The persil ad used MS,CU and ECU.
On the other hand the Persil - Dirt Is Good uses a mixture of camera angles such as LS,MS,CU,HA,ECU etc.It also uses emotional appeal and the meaning it's trying to convey is the idea of equality.A large diversity of people is involved coming from different ethnicities, gender, financial statuses, etc. And it's them playing a game of soccer whilst stepping over/getting rid of the names society has given them or even breaking the barriers they have upon themselves(disabled,different,foreigner,etc.).
