Statement of Intent
For my music video I plan to use
media language to create a performance based music video which will be dynamic
and fast the same way the song I used is. The video will be directed towards
16-25 class AB demographic to reflect the industry context desired by Universal
Music- which is a music video which has ‘artistry’ and ‘innovation’. The
location I have chosen is the Sea Garden in Burgas. Its right next to the Black
Sea and additionally it is full of greenlife, fountains and young people. . I
will use actors who are experienced in the field of acrobatics, tumbling and
dancing to accompany the track chosen.
The way I am going to tackle the performance, mise en scene and editing
will be reflecting the song chosen. The same way in the song in which Rich Brian
describes how he has been dealing with his new environment which is the music
industry and how he has stayed true to his roots, I will have one of the actors
performing in the Sea Garden. It is almost as if he is in his prime and in his
own territory doing what he can best, which is moving. I will combine slow
motion shots with mid and long shots to showcase how aesthetically pleasing the
performance can be but also contrast it with raw shots to show the other side
of movement which is fast and aggressive. One of the reasons why I have chosen
these actors is because of their age group. Stoyan is a 21 year old Bulgarian
male and Matteo is a 37 year old Italian man. Despite their age difference both
of them are well experienced in their respectful fields. The same way Rich
Brian is. Despite him being 19 he has had a tremendous amount of popularity and
growth for the past 3 years. Despite sounding extremely cliché, a point that I
am trying to make in the video is that age is just a number and it does not define
you as much as you would like to think.
I am planning on making a static, personal website to showcase my work done so far. I will include the music video in there, a couple of words about me and the actors who have helped me create the music video. My website will be targeting a younger audience, since the video I have made and the music used is directed towards such audience. I am going to use elements such as negative space to direct the attention of the audience to whatever place I want and I will be creating the website in a more of a minimalistic style. Furthermore I will be including a couple of short paragraphs for each of the actors I have used, also including a couple of links to their social media accounts where they release content. I will also add some clips and images to accompany their actor profiles. Additionally I am going to add a couple of lines about myself and the work I have done so far as well.
I am planning on keeping the same
theme throughout my website as mentioned earlier whilst also trying to
link my product which is the music video to the website itself. I will do that
through engaging with my audience by giving them the option to see the actors I
have used in work and to see the music video itself. The linkage I have provided
of the social media accounts of the actors I have used is a clear example of
digital convergence, which also shows the development of connection methods.
Stan you make interesting points about your music video discussing use of language to create a representation. You don't make it clear however why the content of the video, acrobatics is being used when the intention of the song is to put across a message about becoming popular. Who is Rich Brian? YOu don't mention the institution, Universal. You are creating a product that they would distribute and exhibit. Why would they? Have they got similar artists on their books? How will the style of the website complement/reinforce the music video? How is choice of image and typography as well as use of space convergent with the music video to create a synergy between the two products.
