The Benefits of Paywalls


A paywall is an arrangement whereby access is restricted to users who have paid to subscribe to the site. This essay will be discussing how the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

            Firstly I’d like to start off with the fact that the newspaper industry is dying out slowly, and a paywall may prevent its downfall. Many people may have forgotten that journalism is still a profession and as a profession it needs financial funding, but when it comes to paying a certain fee the majority of people wouldn’t like the idea of giving their money to read articles. That’s due to the fact that individuals are used to reading cheap or even free news. To be able to constantly release quality material ,to make reportages and what not has to be funded in some way.

        Secodnly in my opinion Paywalls are an excellent way to legitimize the content being provided, where higher-quality content may be very valuable to a certain audience,and therefore, worth the price of what the publisher asks. In addition the paywall could be made weekly,worth a pound. I feel  as if paying 1 pound a week sounds better and more convincing rather than paying 4 a month.


        In a nutshell, paywalls are a brilliant way to fund and support financially journalism and a certain media, also they can help legitimize the content being made.

1. Because of how simplistic and open-ended the game is. In order to play Minecraft you need collect certain resources. A bed, for example, requires you to combine wood and wool, while a longbol is made from a stick and some string. There's no story, no mission, just you and a world of possibilities.
